Hot and sweaty

July 1, 2006

Today felt like the hottest day of the year so far and I’d be very surprised if that wasn’t the case when the weather statto’s check it out. Bizarre as it sounds, it put us off from going down to Caswell Bay as we felt it was too hot!

I never realised until about 6:30 this evening how many Portuguese people live on our street – well I’m guessing they were Portuguese as they keep shouting ‘Easy, Easy, Easy’ and ‘Portugal, Portugal’ – anyone would have thought they won a football match or something. In all seriousness though, perhaps now the media will stop hyping up England and their chances of winning the world cup. They (the media and the team for that matter) should concentrate on penalty taking – as this is now the 3rd time they’ve lost on penalties in a major competition. I’m still gutted that Wales haven’t made it to the finals since 1958, so don’t talk to me about 40 years of hurt!

After doing our usual Saturday shopping we stopped off for a Joe’s ice cream and as always it was delicious. We still haven’t managed to persuade DDWT Junior to have a taste though, he’s far more interested in munching the wafer that comes with it than the ice cream. Mind you, perhaps that’s not such a bad thing.

Right time to go and get some zzzzz’s now ready for the Gower Bike Ride tomorrow. Am planning an 8am start with two other riders – so that should be a challenge as one is a marathon runner and the other is a duathelete. There are no prizes for guessing who’s going to finish last out of the 3 of us! Full report tomorrow though.
