Can he fix it?

Seeing as I’ve been in such great DIY form over the last few weeks, Mrs DDWT threw me another challenge today – relating to our Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately, the cleaner (vacuum that is) appeared to have developed a fault whereby it didn’t suck – quite literally. So I was faced with a choice of forking out on a new one or try my damdest to fix it.

Fortunately for me a quick search on google revealed that (a) amazon.co.uk were the cheapest by far for buying a new one (£149.94 with free delivery) and (b) quite a few people were having the same problem. In fact one site – www.crazysquirrel.com – actually had some pictures and instructions on how to service the Dyson yourself (oo-er). Anyway, I followed said instructions and will await the outcome after the system dries out (probably tomorrow).

After 2 weeks of putting weight back on I’m over the moon to report that I’ve actually lost weight this week (amzingly) and now stand at 16st 9lbs. Only 3lbs to go to reach my target weight. No doubt it’ll be the hardest to shift as well.

With the heart warming sight of my weight still fresh in my mind, I went for a 22 mile bike ride afterwards (undeterred by the windy and wet weather). With the 50 miler only 2 weeks away, I felt I really needed to get the miles in and soon. My route concentrated on the Swansea Valley between Clydach and Ystradgynlais – taking in Pontardawe and Ystalyfera along the way.

Well it’s back to work tomorrow after my 2 week break, but it’s felt like a lot longer so it’s obviously been a good holiday.
