Swans v Reds

January 20, 2007

Today saw the much anticipated visit of the Reds of Nottingham (aka FEC Nottingham Forest – fec for former european champions) to the Liberty Stadium in what was billed as a mouth-watering clash between two of League One’s bigger clubs.

Whilst the 0-0 scoreline was disappointing, the game itself was a lively affair and no doubt any neutrals in the crowd would have given the game to the Swans on points would it have been a bout of boxing. As such – even with numerous opportunities – the Swans couldn’t deliver a knockout blow and were left once again to rue missed chances and another 2 points down the pan. The full match report can as usual be found on the official Swans site.

Little Leon Britton was once again my man of the match, but in fairness everyone played well. Special mention also to the back four whom dealt very comfortably with the Forest pairing of Tyson and Holt – whom had given Charlton a torrid time a few weeks back.

One other thing worth a mention was the Forest support – numbering in excess of 1,300 – whom I personally felt were rather subdued compared to other way followings down the Liberty this season, whom had lesser numbers (Bristol City spring to mind).

The house of DDWT decided to try out a different Cantonese takeaway tonight. Well I say try out, its been something like 3 months since we had the last one – so we’re hardly regulars anywhere! Anyway, it was the ‘Golden Triangle’ in Pontardawe and it was very nice with some speedy delivery (which is always welcome when you’re starving). Both the Mrs and I had the same – Roast Duck Chinese style with DDWT Junior helping me devour some chips, which left Mrs DDWT to eat the rather salty (the only minus point) egg fried rice. So it was £11.20 well spent and no doubt another visit will be made in the not-too-distant future I hope.
