The Tipp-Ex Bear and The Hunter

September 17, 2010 by Duncan Thomas

Those of you whom frequent the internet a lot, like I do, may well have already come across the latest viral marketing gimmick to hit our screens – ‘A Hunter Shoots a Bear‘.

What makes this video so unique though is the fact that after it’s played through once, YOU get the chance to “instruct” the hunter what you’d like to “do” with the bear next!!

A hunter shoots a bear

As you can imagine, this leads to some pretty hilarious/weird/bemusing/daft/scary (delete as appropriate) video clips. Give it a go for yourself and just to get you started, here are some words to try:

  • Dance
  • Kiss
  • Play
  • Hump
  • Fart
  • Kills
  • Slaps

Good isn’t it? Now it’s perhaps debatable as to whether or not Tipp-Ex sales will rocket as a result of this viral video, or whether they will incur the wrath of animal rights protesters around the world (well you never know with some people do you!).

One thing is for sure though, it’s going to have one huge impact on helping to further market their brand and I’ve little doubt that if people didn’t know what Tipp-Ex was before, they certainly do now.

As an aside, if you are interested in this sort of brand marketing and would like to see what others are up to, take a look at New Media Magazine’s Viral Brand Chart.

Now where did I put my video camera and Father Christmas costume…
