The 2011-12 Premier League football season will be remembered for many things, but perhaps one of the biggest achievements of all was that of ‘little Swansea City’ comfortably securing a 2nd term in the top flight – much to the surprise (shock… disgust even?) of some of football’s so called expert pundits, journalists and bookies.
Folk such as Rodney Marsh and to a lesser extent Stan Collymore, really were all shook up.
Their half-witted pre-season predictions were a bone of contention that Brendan Rodgers chose to address in the after match press conference at Old Trafford yesterday.
Referring to Sunday’s final home game against Liverpool, Brendan said…
“Next week is going to be brilliant. I will be asking all the fans if they can wear as many Elvis Presley costumes as we can because when we got promoted the bookies said there was more chance of seeing Elvis Presley than us staying at this level. As a show of our achievement we’ll ask for them to do that.” (taken from BBC Sport website)
